Arturo Vidich will perform in Catch 38 at CPR on Feb 20, and on Feb 27th in the Brucennial. Arturo Vidich is curating a performance salon through Kunstverein NY at White Slab Palace on the 28th. Aki Sasamoto will give a brief talk in Chelsea at 4pm this Saturday. December: Aki Sasamoto has a feature article in Art Asia Pacific. Arturo Vidich will show two projects in the ITP Winter Show on 12/20 and 12/21. The very first ArtCraftTech conference just took place Dec. 13-20, at Abrons Arts Center. November: Celebrity+Chef Dinner on Nov 6 was delicious and fun! Doing Symposium is happening on Nov 15. Report from the event will be published here later this month. October: Aki Sasamoto has her own work exhibited at the Kitchen through Oct 31. Last performance is this Saturday the 24th at 1pm. Collage Marathon on Nov 17! Saturday, at Abrons Arts Center (466 Grand St), 12-6pm. Cyborg Nation will be at the University of Georgia in Athens, GA Oct. 8-10, 2009. Cyborg Nation will be part of Fritz Haeg's Dome Colony X in the San Gabriels at X Initiative, with events throughout September and October 2009. August: Genesis Project is underway at Basekamp. Culture Push had its launch party at Niagara Bar, hosted by The Antagonists. Art by Katie Merz, Derek Roberts, Janusz Jaworski, and performance by Arturo Vidich The first Drawing Marathon occurred at 122 Spring Street for 12 hours. May: The second Celebrity + Chef event took place on Friday, May 22nd at 7pm in SoHo. The special guest was Momus, a "furtive, crepuscular art-rudeboy"
Aki Sasamoto performed with Momus (Nick Currie) at Zach Feuer Gallery; May 5-16. Performance 2-6pm Tuesdays to Fridays, 12-6pm Saturdays. Arturo Vidich became a graduate student at the Interactive Telecommunications Program at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. On May 10th at 9-10pm, Aki Sasamoto and Momus were interviewed on WKCR radio 89.9FM.
Genesis Project artist-in-residence, Saul Melman, has started his fund-raising initiative: the Kimchi Pancake Project (KPP). Sign Language, by TRYST in collaboration with 15 fifth graders and 5 store owners, will be on display May 9-25, 2009, on Doyers St. in Chinatown, NYC. April:
Arturo Vidich and Aki Sasamoto were reviewed in NY Times, plus an interview with Eva Yaa Asantewaa, Aki Sasamoto and Arturo Vidich performed at Living Room 2009, a performance festival in Auckland, New Zealand April 22-26. This week, Arturo Vidich and Aki Sasamoto performed at Chocolate Factory Theater on April 8th - 11th. March: Culture Push became a full-fledged tax-exempt entity in the eyes of the IRS. Clarinda Mac Low performed with Meredith Monk at the Guggenheim Museum on March 5. Culture Push welcomed Ann Chen, Curator and Development Associate. February: Arturo Vidich was featured on wnyc.org's ART.CULT blog. Culture Push held its first Celebrity + Chef event, with special guest Steve Greco. Aki Sasamoto is teaching a Sculpture course at Columbia University for the Spring 2009 semester. Arturo Vidich and Aki Sasamoto were in the NY Times, and the Village Voice. Aki Sasamoto and Arturo Vidich performed with Yvonne Meier at Danspace Project, Thurs-Sat Feb. 5-7. January: Genesis Project, Philadelphia announced the artists selected for the first residency.
Arturo Vidich performed a work-in-progress at Movement Research at the Judson Church on Monday Jan. 26th September: Aki's work was in Yokohama Triennale, September thru December 2008. June: Aki's video was in a group exhibition at Deutsche Guggenheim. Arturo Vidich will be an Artist-in-Residence at Movement Research 2008-2010. |
